Frequently Asked Questions

Lorem Ipsum Dolor Sit Amet

In general, there are a few conditions that would prevent you from getting a massage. Of course, do not schedule an appointment if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, cold, or a skin condition that is contagious. Active chemotherapy or other intensive medical treatments is generally considered off-limits for massage. If you have a serious medical condition and you are unsure if a massage would be safe for you, I will recommend that you speak with your primary care provider or specialist to get approval first.

How often should I get a massage?

Minimum maintenance recommendation is once a month. If that is not enough to address pain issues, increase more often until issue is adequately being addressed, then gradually taper back down to once a month. More than 3 times a week will usually be too much.

What do you wear for a massage?

You may undress to your level of comfort. Many people prefer to keep their underwear on during a massage, while others choose to be nude. Your massage therapist will leave the room so you can undress and lie on the massage table under a sheet. You will be covered at all times. Only the muscle being worked on will be uncovered.

Will it hurt?

In general, massages should not hurt. In fact, if you are in pain during a massage, this may cause your muscles to seize up, making the relaxing effects more difficult to achieve. Optimal therapeutic pressure is "hurt so good." On a 1-10 scale, it is a 7.5. If the pressure is too intense, speak up immediately so your therapist can adjust.  Certain techniques may result in soreness during the days following a massage, similar to that of a great workout, but in general, you should not have pain during or after your massage.
